Boycott George Clooney
I am organizing a life-time boycott of George Clooney. Care to join me?
Some of the brilliant things he's said:
"I believe he thinks this [war against Iraq] is a war that can be won, but there is no such thing anymore." // "We can't beat anyone anymore."
"What did Bush do on 9/11? He ran away and hid. Even Reagan knew more about leadership than that, and he was as bad a symbol of America as I can think of, off-hand. But at least he's been in enough cowboy movies to know he had to come out and stand on top of the rubble and be seen shaking his fist or something."
"It's the head guys who really tick me off. You dumb down at the top, so what does that do to the bottom? Who's going to stand up for us now? I just want someone smart to stand up and shout, 'Bullsh*t!' They tell us we're going to war and no one's saying 'Bullsh*t' loud enough. And the language! Listen to the language! 'Evil.' 'Evil'? 'Nexus of evil'? 'Evil-doer'? That's my favourite, 'evil-doer'! What's wrong with their vocabulary: couldn't they come up with 'schmuck'?"
Clooney's got a movie opening this weekend -- Don't Go!
Update: It looks like about one and a half million Americans ignored my instructionals and went to see this movie over the weekend. But that was lower than the expected gate, and the reviews are less than stellar.
10,000 Maniacs
I was part of a group blog at Calblog on election day. I'm reposting my entries here. These posts and many others generated alot of traffic. I know of at least 12 other blogs including the Granddaddy -- the Instapundit who linked to us. We had an Instalanche of over 10,000 visitors. Whew.
Harassing Poll Workers
I just returned from voting where I was harassed by a poll worker.
Today I entered my polling place and the poll worker told me I had to take off my shirt. It was perfectly obvious that I didn't have anything on under my shirt but a bra. I said are you serious. He said yes, you can't wear that, it's electioneering. I said it's a shirt. He said I don't care, you can't wear it in this garage - take it off. I said I don't have anything else to wear. He said I don't care - take it off. Another poll worker went inside her house to get a blanket that I could wrap around myself to vote. I voted, crying the whole time. I came out and gave him my ballot. I told him I had never before had an unpleasant experience voting but that he was a real jerk. With a stupid grin on his face, he said you can call the election office. I said I will. I did.
I've also called both Arnold's and Ted Costa's organizations and told them about the incident to see if they want to take any legal action. I'll get over it, but it's important that over-zealous poll workers don't prevent our volunteers from getting out the vote this afternoon and evening. If by harassing me they are prevented from harassing our other volunteers, I won't mind.

Harassing Poll Worker - Update
Hey everybody, thanks for your interest.
I'm back from work and off to do some GOTV.
Here's the update.
The registar of voters called me to apologize. She said that the poll worker was doing his job but mishandled the situation and she was sorry.
If I was a candidate or staff of a candidate, I would not have worn campaign gear. But I was merely exercising my right to vote and don't believe that my activity could be considered electioneering. I reacted emotionally because voting has always been something that brings me joy. I never miss. I almost always vote in person because it's more fun.
Thanks for all your legal advice. I'll keep you posted.

Bloggers for Bush
I've joined a new group - promoting Wictory Wednesday
quoting from the Polipundit:
Today is Wictory Wednesday. Every Wednesday I ask my readers to volunteer and/or donate to the Bush campaign if they haven't done so already. And if you have volunteered and donated, then get a friend to join you.
If you're a blogger, you can join Wictory Wednesday simply by putting up a post like this every Wednesday, asking your readers to volunteer and/or donate to the president's re-election campaign. And do e-mail me so that I can add you to the Wictory Wednesday blogroll, which will be part of the Wictory Wednesday post on all participating blogs:

Yesterday's Song
What a day this has been
What a rare mood I'm in
Why, it's almost like being in love
There's a smile on my face
For the whole human race
Why, it's almost like being in love
All the music of life seems to be
Like a bell that is ringing for me
And from the way that I feel
When that bell starts to peal
I would swear I was falling
I could swear I was falling
It's almost like being in love
