No Fashion Flip Flops
He's changed his mind about Saddam, but he hasn't changed his mind about his ties.
On Brit Hume's show Monday, they did a piece on Kerry's contrasting views about the dangers posed by Saddam Hussein (cough) and they showed clips of a speech Dec 16, 2003 with a distinctly different position than his speech on September 20, 2004.
But his ties were the same.
If someone can teach me how to grap an image off of my Dish network DVR, I would post it so you can see that I'M NOT MAKING THIS UP!

Do you know your assignment?
Elizabeth Wilner at the Washington Post compares the parties and how they do business.
Compare that to the Bush campaign's reaction to the "60 Minutes" report about Bush's Air National Guard service. GOP partisans outside the Bush campaign quickly questioned the authenticity of the documents that CBS claimed to have unearthed, while the Bush campaign itself stayed out of the fray. Enough legitimate doubts have since been raised about the documents to shift the focus from Bush's service to CBS's newsgathering judgment.
Her conclusion is wrong, something about maybe the Dems aren't mean enough. It has nothing to do with ruthless discipline, but it does have to do with discipline. Individual dems have no idea how to support their party 'cuz their too worried about their own agendas.
There are thousands of Republican activists who know exactly what their job is: follow the lead of the candidate, don't start your own sideshow. Donate money and time to the official campaign, not a 527. Write letters or blog in support of the candidates message don't promote wierdo ideas. In essence, Be true to your school.
BE TRUE TO YOUR SCHOOL
When some loud braggart tries to put me down
And says his school is great
I tell him right away
Now what's the matter buddy
Ain't you heard of my school
It's number one in the state
So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school
I got a letterman's sweater
With a letter in front
I got for football and track
I'm proud to where it now
When I cruise around
The other parts of the town
I got a decal in back
So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school
On Friday we'll be jacked up on the football game
And I'll be ready to fight
We're gonna smash 'em now
My girl will be working on her pom-poms now
And she'll be yelling tonight
So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Rah rah rah be true to your school
Host Says Rather Criticism Got Him Fired
PEGGY ANDERSEN
Associated Press
SEATTLE - A radio talk-show host said Saturday he has been fired for criticizing CBS newsman Dan Rather's handling of challenges to the authenticity of memos about President Bush's National Guard service.
"On the talk show that I host, or hosted, I said I felt Rather should either retire or be forced out over this," said Brian Maloney, whose weekly "The Brian Maloney Show" aired for three years on KIRO-AM Radio, a CBS affiliate here.
Maloney says he made that statement on his Sept. 12 program. He was fired Friday, he said.
"What they have expressed is essentially that my show went in a direction they're not comfortable with," Maloney said.
KIRO Radio's general manager, Ken Berry, did not return a call seeking comment. A staff member at the station said Berry would not comment because it is a personnel matter.
Rather cited the memos, purportedly written by Bush's late squadron commander, in a Sept. 8 "60 Minutes II" segment. The memos indicated the commander was pressured to "sugar coat" Bush's performance and that Bush ignored an order to take a physical.
Several document experts have said the memos look suspiciously like they were written on a computer, not a 1970s-era typewriter. Rather said Sept. 10 that there was no definitive evidence of forgery.
On Wednesday, the network said it would work harder to address concerns about the memos.
Maloney said he had felt free to comment on the controversy and on Rather.
"I really felt he was taking the network's credibility down with him," Maloney said in a telephone interview.
"Talk-show hosts have generally had a lot of independence in these kinds of issues," he said. "Nobody's ever said, 'You can't criticize CBS News.'"
KIRO Radio is affiliated with CBS but owned by Entercom, a national radio broadcasting company based in Bala Cynwyd, Pa.

Catholics and Hollywood
Last night I watched the new NBC show Medical Investigation. Completely shocking in its portrayal of Catholics. It featured:
A good priest
Lead character crossing himself when he came into church
Lead character genuflecting in front of the alter
Lead character asking priest to pray for his family
Lead character telling soldier that life lies in God's hands
Young military men going to mass while on leave from Iraq
Catholic volunteer going to convalescent hospital to bring communion to the sick
Lead character flashbacking on an experience where as a military officer he had to inform a widow that her husband had died in service to his country.
All in one hour!
All I can say is TIVO this show!
And isn't Neal McDonough a beautiful Irish name. pronounced Mc Dun ah.

Sports vs. Arts
I often explain the liberal opposition to George W. Bush in Hollywood as Sports vs. Arts.
Sports have concrete goals. Your time must be the fasted, you aim the most accurate, your hit the hardest. You must perform better than the other guy or you will lose. Competition is direct and open. Life is black and white.
Arts emote. How it feels is what matters most. Participation, collaboration, cooperation, expression. Shades of Gray.
George W. Bush is a Sport. John Kerry is an Art.
And now there's a 527 who's going to explain it all to the world.
Football Fans for Truth is dedicated to informing the American sports fan of the great risk that could befall our country.
Dino Panagopoulos, Chairman: "John Kerry is a menace to sports fans everywhere," said Football Fans for Truth Chairman Dino . "Can we take four years of this? I don't think so."
Jeff Larroca, Director: "He is not fit to be our sports-fan-in-chief."
Football Fans for Truth is already moving forward with its public education campaign. The organization has ordered a billboard near "Lambert Field" to educate Wisconsin football fans of the threat of a Kerry administration. It will stand through the election.

Straighten up and fly right
Words and Music by Nat King Cole and Irving Mills
A buzzard took the monkey for a ride in the air
The monkey thought that everything was on the square
The buzzard tried to throw the monkey off his back
But the monkey grabbed his neck and said-- Now listen, Jack
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top.
Ain't no use in divin'
What's the use in jivin'
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top.
The buzzard told the monkey "You're chokin' me
Release your hold and I'll set you free
The monkey looked the buzzard right dead in the eye and said
Your story's touching but it sounds like a lie
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and do right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top.
(instrumental interlude)
Straighten up and fly right
Straighten up and do right
Straighten up and fly right
Cool down, papa, don't you blow your top.

Bush is a Hottie
The Powerline guys seem surprized to find out that chicks think GWB is cute
Earlier today we did a post on the unintended consequences of the Dems' causing photos of President Bush National Guard to remain in circulation. I think we got more emails than we've ever received in response to a post. The reaction from female Power Line readers, of whom probably 150 or more have written us, was unanimous. Several volunteered comparisons of the Bush photos with those of John Kerry from the same era; their comparisons were not flattering to Kerry.
Coincidentally, I ran across a photo of Kerry, circa 1971, with two alleged fellow veterans, that I've never seen before. So I thought we'd run a side-by-side comparison:

CBS and Math
CBS has made ZERO effort to answer the questions about the memos up til now. Andy Heyward says that they will redouble their efforts to answer those questions.
Do you think he knows that when you double or redouble Zero you still have zero?
2 x 0 = 0
2 x 2 x 0 = 0
He could quadruple his efforts and they still would be nothing.
Statement by the President of CBS News, Andrew Heyward:
'We established to our satisfaction that the memos were accurate or we would not have put them on television. There was a great deal of coroborating [sic] evidence from people in a position to know. Having said that, given all the questions about them, we believe we should redouble our efforts to answer those questions, so that's what we are doing'...
I love math ;^D

Boycott Survivor
CBS only has a few top 10 shows, Survivor and 60 Minutes. I think a network boycott would be impossible to accomplish, but the premier of Survivor is on Thursday night, and if the bloggers in pajamas blogged, instead of watching, we might be able to affect their ratings.
Do you agree? Spread the word.
