Why We're Going To Win

RED STATE, BLUE STATE - Blue state (Kerry supporters): Think that calling somebody a cowboy is a pejorative. Red state (Bush supporters): Built a Cowboy Hall of Fame.

- Mickey Edwards, a former Republican congressman from Oklahoma

Next they'll be trying to insult him by saying he was (shocking tone) a Rugby Player

or a lifelong baseball fan

Boston Strangler

You gotta read this article from the American Thinker

Thomas Wright was one of John F. Kerry's fellow Swift boat officers in Vietnam. Since Wright outranked Kerry, he was Kerry's sometime boat group Officer-in-Charge, so Wright had occasion to observe Kerry’s behavior and attitudes, and the circumstances surrounding his early departure from the war zone. The intervening years have not dimmed his memories.

When the Swift boats of Coastal Division 11 sailed into harm’s way from their Phu Quoc Island base of An Thoi, for missions along the rivers of Vietnam’s southwesternmost Kien Giang and An Xuyen provinces, they communicated by radio. When they did, boat captains adopted distinctive, often humorous call signs for identification purposes. Eldon Thompson was “Mary Poppins,” William Schachte was “Baccardi Charlie,” James T. Grace was “Twiggy,” and Tom Wright was “Dudley Do-Right.” When John Kerry radioed another Swift boat, he used the call sign, “Boston Strangler.”

Read the article ... doesn't this deserve a google bomb? Someone give me the instructions please

Marc Racicot, former Gov of Montana and friend of Stacey, sends an e-mail asking you to join the March to a Million. The Bush campaign is looking for One Million grassroots contributors by May 16th. All you have to do is click over to the Bush website with your credit card in hand, and make a donation. It doesn't have to be big ... $10, $15, more?

Don't you want to tell your friends you were One in a Million?

We've Got Dovies

They've got their faces tucked in under a wing, but I can see their fast breathing bodies.

I said it before and I'll Say it Again

Kate's done a snarky parody to Love Will Keep Us Together. I'm spinning into the summer of 1975 ...

We were lifeguards at the UCDavis Rec Pool. Whenever that song came on, we'd jump up on our lifeguard stands and sing and dance. Beth Wolfe had a Jaclyn Smith Charlie's Angels white bikini. Merrilee Milmoe was the fantasy girl of every guy in the Athletic Department because of the beige leotard and tights she would wear in the halls of the Hickey gym waiting for her tap dancing class (from a distance, she looked nekkid) and although I wasn't aware of it at the time, there were probably a couple of fellas who had a secret plan for me.

For more info on the secret plan, scroll down to Dr. Monkeystein's comments on January 6, 2004.

Love Will Keep Us Together
The Captain & Tennille
(N.Sedaka/H.Greenfield)

Love, love will keep us together
Think of me babe whenever
Some sweet talkin' girl comes along, singin' a song
Don't mess around, you just gotta be strong

Just stop, 'cause I really love you
Stop, I been thinkin' of you
Look in my heart and let love keep us together

You (you, do do do) you belong to me now (do, do do do)
Ain't gonna set ya free now (do do do)
When those girls start hangin' around, talkin' me down
Hear with your heart and ya won't hear a sound

Just stop (stop, stop) cause I really love you (really love you)
Stop (stop, stop) I been thinkin' of you (been thinkin' of you)
Look in my heart and let love keep us together, whatever

Young and beautiful, but someday your looks'll be gone
When the others turn you off, who'll be turnin' you on
I will, I will, I will, I will be there to share forever
Love will keep us together
I said it before and I'll say it again
While others pretend
I need ya now and I need ya then

Just stop (stop) cause I really love you (really love you)
Stop (stop) I been thinkin' of you (been thinkin' of you)
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
Whatever (a-ba-da whatever)
I will (ever), I will (ever), I will (ever), I will (ahh)

(Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da)

You better stop (stop) cause I really love you (really love you)
Stop (stop) I been thinkin' of you (been thinkin' of you)
Look in my heart and let love keep us together
Whatever (a-ba-da whatever)
I will (ever), I will (ever), I will (ever), I will (ahh)

(Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da)
(Sedaka is back!)
(Da da da da, da da da da, da da da da)

Walk On By

One of my bloggy friends, the Calblog-er, is going to walk for a cure for breast cancer in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Make a pledge and support her! You'll be glad you did.

and sing a little

Walk on By
Burt Bacharach / Hal David

If you see me walking down the street
And I start to cry each time we meet
Walk on by, walk on by

Make believe
that you don't see the tears
Just let me grieve
in private 'cause each time I see you
I break down and cry
And walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by (don't stop)
And walk on by

I just can't get over losing you
And so if I seem broken and blue
Walk on by, walk on by

Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
When you said goodbye
Walk on by
and walk on by
and walk by (don't stop)

Walk on by, walk on by
Foolish pride
Is all that I have left
So let me hide
The tears and the sadness you gave me
When you said goodbye
Walk on by (don't stop)
and walk on by (don't stop)
and walk by (don't stop)

Lovey Dovey

I've heard that doves come back to their nests every year. And I'm thinking a few doves must have been born in the neighborhood, cuz I hear the cooing alot. So, I shouldn't be surprized that a dove has made her nest in the wagon wheel light fixture on my back porch, directly in front of my door. It's not so convenient for me, I feel like I shouldn't open the back door and scare her away from her task. On the plus, I'm going to get to see the babies up close.

Does anyone know a dove's gestation period?

I've named her Lovey.

Update: Thanks to a fellow surfer, I've found some info. Apparently I'll have a couple baby doves the first week of May.
