I'm just back from the huge rally at the State Capitol - it'll be on all the nets tonight and in tomorrows papes. It was great fun but I was on security and am exhausted and in a puddle, so I have nothing witty to say. It was great fun. Reporters said it was the biggest turnout yet, and they had 7,500 in Bakersfield. I'd guess there were 10,000 cheering Arnold supporters in the park today.
I got a little bump from Bob Mulholland, who didn't get past my gate.

Interesting bits from the snap poll from SurveyUSA (hat tip: Polipundit)
How are the Dems reacting?
42% of Dems believe the reports are an unfair attempt by the Democrats to smear Arnold even though the vast majority (86%) find the charges believable.
Majority of Dems (56% to 41%) says his apology is enough and he has no more explaining to do.
Twice as many Democrats will now vote for Arnold as will now not-vote for Arnold (12 % switching to, 6% switching against)
Anybody out there want to analyze why?

I just got off the phone with Kevin McCarthy (the new minority leader for the State Assembly) and he was on the bus with Arnold! He'll be travelling with him as he journeys to Sacramento for the final rally on Sunday. Please post a comment encouraging Kevin to do a "guest blog" for us about the inside scoop.
Don't you love to read reporters who get it?! Daniel Weintraub, Dan Walters, Mickey Kaus and today Jill Stewart in the Chron.
After what Davis did to Riordan, the Democratic Party believed it would enjoy years of control in Sacramento. Davis and the Democratic majority moved further and further left to appease unions and others--but the populace didn't.
Is Pete's Harbor still open? I loved that place, and nearly convinced my sister and brother-in-law to live in a boat moored there. The 6'4" brother in law decided that living on a boat with ceilings so low he couldn't stand up straight was not for him. Too bad, they had great hamburgers at the Pete's Harbor Restaurant.

Polipundit points to positive poll
Highlights:
Among likely voters 67% DUMP DAVIS
No gender gap on the Dump Davis question - 64% of males & 62% of females don't like him.
Can anyone explain this: 6% of Scwarzenegger voters, 10% of Republicans, 15% of Conservatives and 19% of McClintock voters want to keep Davis - what's up with that? I would think that would be the one point we'd all be united on - Dump him!

Bloggers for Bush
I'm joining a new group - promoting Wictory Wednesday
quoting from the Polipundit:
Today is Wictory Wednesday. Every Wednesday I ask my readers to volunteer and/or donate to the Bush campaign if they haven't done so already. And if you have volunteered and donated, then get a friend to join you.
If you're a blogger, you can join Wictory Wednesday simply by putting up a post like this every Wednesday, asking your readers to volunteer and/or donate to the president's re-election campaign. And do e-mail me so that I can add you to the Wictory Wednesday blogroll, which will be part of the Wictory Wednesday post on all participating blogs:

Former McC staff supporting Arnold!
I went to the First 100 Days speech today at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. While waiting in line I saw a former district staffer for McC waiting in line wearing a Join Arnold button. This guy worked for McC in the 90s.
In Girl Scouts we sang:
Make new friends, but keep the old,
One is silver and the other's gold.
That's one of my cardinal rules for politics -- Never support a candidate who doesn't have old friends. If the people who know you best don't like you, there's a reason.

Smart Tony Quinn gives his take on McC and his motivations:
"Why would McClintock risk handing the governorship to the most liberal Democratic candidate on the ballot? The answer is revenge ---an irrational emotion in politics that often trumps all others. McClintock is getting even."

Lost of posts all over the net about the California Republican Party endorsement for Arnold, but did you know that it was unanimous?
Some question the benefit of this endorsement - at least one big one - postage rates. Official state political parties receive the lowest possible postage rate. It use to be less than half the non-profit bulk mail rate (if memory serves)
