Recall-itis
I'm quite despondent about the 9th circuit, so I'm going to pretend it didn't happen. Those of you who know me, know that I'm extremely skilled in avoidance.
So on to happier topics ....
I had 2 fantastic blogs provide links to my site today. Prestopundit was my first ever blogosphere reference, linking to my news about the straw poll results at the California Republican Party Convention. And Fresh Potatoes linked to my news about President George H.W. Bush donating to Arnold's campaign. Both of them inspired me to start blogging, so I'm thrilled that they read my site!
Some funnyman money .... Jim Belushi gives a few bucks to Arnold.
And a hat tip to PrestoPundit 's comments about the Oprah show. I wish they were doing a rolling poll tonight. I bet Arnold would be up 5 - 10 % based on the women's vote. If I was writing for a male audience, I'd say Arnold's performance on the show was a grand slam, a hole in one, a touchdown and a threepointer combined. But we're talking about the women's vote... It was a creme brulee/tiramasou/chocolate decadence with a glass of Villa Toscano Barbera.

Recall-itis
Yesterday afternoon we were sitting in the Marriott lobby and overheard John Fund of the Wall Street Journal talking to Bill Bradley of LA Weeklay. John Fund was telling Bill that this race was personal to him, he grew up in Northern California and still considers California his home. Anyway, John said he had some BIG news and we'd know it in 36 hours. I figure we should all read his column Tuesday morning.

Recall-itis
I'm just back from the Republican Convention and dead tired, but have a couple of thoughts to post.
I've been attending these conventions since 1985, have served at times on the executive committee, resolutions, initiatives, volunteers and proxies. I have never been to a convention that had so little activity from the far right in the party. There were almost no hit pieces, no confrontations, no media stunts. It was like the Tombots and their friends were under the Cone of Silence. A friend suggested that they had abandoned Tom and were now focused on Tony Strickland for U.S. Senate.
A couple of organizations did straw polls but I only saw the results from one: the California Women's Leadership Forum and the California Young Republicans co-sponsored a poll open to anyone in attendence at the convention. Approx 1200 people voted, 82.5% supported Arnold. I looked hard for a posting on the other poll, sponsored by Capitol Resource (I think) but couldn't find any results anywhere. They are a strongly conservative organization. I wonder if they didn't publicize the results because they showed overwhelming support for Arnold as well?

Will Kevin be the next speaker?
According to the San Francisco Chronicle, Kevin's turned the dems into Nervous Nellies.
They also note that Assembly Republicans selected a new leader on Monday, Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, who has a reputation for savvy and prolific fund-raising prowess, and they worry about losing control of the Assembly in the general election next year.

Dee Snider was elated to discover that his Twisted Sister tune “We're Not Gonna Take It” has become the unofficial theme song of Schwarzenegger’s gubernatorial campaign.
Snider explained to UPI that the 1984 tune, along with the other songs on Twisted Sister's breakthrough third album,“Stay Hungry,” was inspired by none other than Arnold himself.
“We even sent a platinum [record] award to Arnold,” Snider said.
The Left Coast Report hears that, not to be outdone, Gray Davis’ unofficial campaign song is “Taxman.”

I was caught in the middle of a hornet's nest at the voter registration event with Maria Shriver today. The anti-recallers were primarily male union thugs. Clearly these guys had walked alot of picket lines and had some aggressive altercations outside the factory gates. With over 100 people shouting slogans (both anti and pro recall) Maria remained calm and focused, chatting up the press with a smile on her face.
