Danny Boy

Congratulations to Dan Lungren -- the winner of the 3rd Congressional Primary

Danny Boy

Oh Danny boy, the pipes,
the pipes are calling
From glen to glen,
and down the mountain side

The summer's gone,
and all the flowers are falling
'Tis you, 'tis you
must go and I must bide

But come ye back
when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed
and white with snow

And I'll be here
in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy,
I love you so

But if you come,
and all the flowers are falling
And I am dead,
as dead I may well be

You'll come and find
the place where I am lying
And kneel and say
an "Ave" there for me

And I will hear,
though soft your tread above me
And o'er my grave
will warmer sweeter be

And you will bend
and tell me that you love me
And I will sleep
in peace until you come to me

But if I live
and should you die for Ireland
Let not your dying thoughts
be just of me

But say a prayer to God
for our dearest Island
I know He'll hear
and help to set her free

And I will take your pike
and place my dearest
And strike a blow,
though weak the blow may be

Twill help the cause
to which your heart was nearest
Oh Danny Boy, Oh, Danny boy
I love you so.

I'm extremely sentimental about the song Danny Boy, as my cousin Jimmy McFadden sang it at both my mother's and father's funerals. Boy were we a weeping and a wailing, and then in the Irish fashion, had some toasting at the wake. For my mother's memorial, we hired a jazz combo to play dance music...she would have loved it.

it's Wictory Wednesday

I've done a little bit of my part ... We're going to send a true blue allie (Dan Lungren) to DC to help President Bush in his second term and someone who will help make sure that we've done every single thing we can locally to ensure that there is a second term. I hope all of you are doing your bit ... Have you donated? or volunteered? Have you asked your friends to donate and volunteer? Join the Wictory Wednesday bloggers in encouraging everyone to help

Check out what the other Bush Bloggers are up to ...

It's St. Patrick's Month

Come back here every day for Irish Songs, Toasts, Blessings and Jokes

Here's to the four hinges of society.
May you fight, steal, lie and drink.
When you fight, may you fight for your country.
When you steal, may you steal away from bad company.
When you lie, may you lie at the side of your sweetheart.
And when you drink, may you drink with me.
